The Waiting and Newly Adoptive Families' Group is an informal gathering aiming to bring together those who are currently in the process of adoption, who are exploring the possibility of adoption, as well as those who have adopted within nine months.
Many children available for adoption in Hong Kong have been cared for by foster parents and have formed strong attachments with their foster families. It is important for hopeful adoptive parents to understand more about the role and significance of foster families in these children's lives, and also how to facilitate a healthy transition from foster home to adoptive home. Guest speaker: Bernice Wall, experienced foster parent. Bernice has a wealth of experience caring for children in the foster care system in Hong Kong, and relating to their birth families and/or adoptive families. She is also a former member of the AFHK Steering Committee.
This will be a time to share experiences as well as explore topics of interests.
The WNAF team welcomes those registering to send any questions they have about adoption in advance. This will help the team plan for this and future events and for creating and sharing resources and information that will better inform and prepare you. Please send your questions to outreach@afhk.org.hk All questions will be acknowledged but we may not have capacity to reply over email.
