 The Waiting and Newly Adoptive Families' Group is an informal gathering aiming to bring together those who are currently in the process of adoption, who are exploring the possibility of adoption, as well as those who have adopted within nine months.

SPECIAL TOPIC: Perspectives from a Foster Parent

Many children available for adoption in Hong Kong have been cared for by foster parents and have formed strong attachments with their foster families.  It is important for hopeful adoptive parents to understand more about the role and significance of foster families in these children's lives, and also how to facilitate a healthy transition from foster home to adoptive home. 
Guest speaker: Bernice Wall, experienced foster parent. Bernice has a wealth of experience caring for children in the foster care system in Hong Kong, and relating to their birth families and/or adoptive families.  She is also a former member of the AFHK Steering Committee.


This will be a time to share experiences as well as explore topics of interests.

These events are open to :
  • members and non-members of AFHK
  • families who are in the process of adoption or considering adoption
  • families who have completed the approval process and are waiting to be matched
Participants may opt to receive a Certificate of Attendance which will note your participation and the topic of this meeting. We hope this may support an adoption or foster application by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to learning about the needs of parenting a child through adoption or fostering. The certificate will cost HKD30 and be emailed directly to you after you attend the meeting.

• 150HKD for non-members or lapsed members (or pay for membership on registration and attend this event for FREE). Payment required in advance.
