Caring for children is not always easy, and dealing with children who might have experienced loss or trauma, who have insecure attachment in their histories, or who have experienced in-utero substance exposure, can be even more challenging. These children tend to be more reactive and sensitive, so it is even more important that those responding to children model calmness and show empathy. This can be very hard in the heat of the moment.
Join us for a stimulating podcast discussion led by Clinical Psychologist Anne Bridgewater. We will listen to and discuss the Creating A Family podcast as host Dawn Davenport talks with Dr Ross Greene. Dr Greene is an American clinical child psychologist and author of the books The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Lost & Found, and Raising Human Beings. In the podcast, he talks about how he uses his intervention model of Collaborative & Proactive Solutions to handle challenging situations with children.
This event is open to all parents and caregivers, waiting and prospective parents, adult adoptees, professionals and students.
Participants can also choose to obtain a Certificate of Attendance for participation in this event. We hope this certificate may support an adoption application by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to learning about the needs of parenting a child through adoption.
