Article Discussion: 12:20 - 1:30pm
Join us for an article discussion on the use of narratives to build attachment in children of adoption and/or out of home care, based on the book, Connecting with Kids Through Stories by Lacher, T. Nichols, M. Nichols, & May.
There are four types of narratives which can help create a cohesive story of acceptance and belonging for a child into the family. These narratives offer another tool by which parents and professionals can begin to integrate a child's story. Through this medium we can build the beautiful image created from the seemingly scattered pieces of the puzzle and enhance a child or adolescent's understanding and acceptance of his or her history and experiences. A brief article summary will be sent out ahead of time for review before the meeting.
