Self-regulation, co-regulation, emotional regulation and sensory regulation. How do we make sense of all the jargon and what does it mean for us and our children? Is regulation a real concern or just a term designed to garner attention?
Occupational Therapists Virginia Spielmann and Heather So aim to address this topic in practical terms, providing valuable insight in to the definition and development of regulation, as well as offering some practical ways to help children with difficulty regulating.

The ability to ‘regulate’ is a precursor to the more conventional milestones of early childhood and is being developed throughout the lifespan. This talk will be beneficial for all parents, as well as professionals in the SEN and mainstream community.

Virginia Spielmann is an Occupational Therapist, specialising in infant and child development and mental health, and is the Clinical Director of SPOT Children's Interdisciplinary Therapy Center, HK.  Virginia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at Oxford Brookes University in England, and is currently studying for her PhD in Infant and Early Childhood Development.

Heather So completed her degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Sydney. Heather has worked in both Australia and the UK. Before relocating to Hong Kong in 2015, Heather worked with the Sydney charity Organization, Northcott, providing occupational therapy services for children of migrant families, children in the foster system, and adopted children.
