Waiting Families Gathering (English)
This informal gathering aims to bring together families who are currently in the process of adopting children from Hong Kong or from other countries.

Save the date for our Cantonese Speaking Waiting Families Event on Wednesday 3 December
We will meet at Holly Brown Coffee in a friendly and casual environment. This will be a time to share our experiences while waiting to be matched with a child. So come with a topic you want to discuss or just a listening ear! Some proposed topics to discuss are:
- I am matched! What happens now (short-term and long-term)
- Should I send my child to a playgroup during the time until the court appointment is due?
- Should I get a domestic helper - pros and cons!
The Waiting Family events are open to
⁃ members and non-members
⁃ families who have not yet been able to start the adoption process for one reason or another but who are actively planning to expand their family through adoption.
⁃ Families who are currently in the process of adopting a child (i.e. families who have started the home approval process)
⁃ Families who have completed the approval process and are waiting to be matched.
Please note that in Hong Kong the actual adoption application process is quite straightforward and clear and this information is available from the agencies that oversee local adoptions. We, therefore, ask that families coming to these events leave aside questions regarding application procedures and avoid treating the event as an information gathering session for sorting Hong Kong paperwork but, along with other waiting families, focus on preparation and developing an understanding of what it means to be an adoptive family.
Do keep in mind that we are not an adoption agency and therefore cannot give advice about application procedures.
• This meeting is FREE FOR CURRENT AFHK MEMBERS
• 100HKD for non-members or lapsed members (or see below to join/renew and attend this event for FREE). Payment required in advance.
• Please note that finding a meeting venue in HK is a challenge and we appreciate the support received from the Holly Brown Coffee Shop for holding our meetings in their upstairs space. As a general courtesy all participants are expected to purchase something.

等候領養家庭聚會 （英語）
親愛的等候領養家庭,
我們誠意邀請你們參加以下即將舉行之等候領養家庭聚會。這個聚會適合現正等候之本地及外國領養家庭/人士參加。我們希望藉這個聚會，讓各等候領養家庭分享正在等候的心情和經驗。大家不妨準備一些題目/問題，若你們沒有任何題目，亦請踴躍參與或聆聽其他參加者的分享。

我們將在此等候領養家庭聚會，討論以下主題：
- 我剛被配對了一個孩子！接著下來我應該有甚麼計劃？（現在 - 將來)
- 我應否在獲得法院頒予之領養令前讓孩子參加親子遊戲班？
- 我應否聘請一個家庭傭工幫忙? 好處和壞處在哪裡？
此活動適合以下人士參加:
⁃ 會員和非會員
⁃ 希望透過領養孩子而擴闊家庭體系的人士，而他們卻因某些原因未能進行申請領養孩子的程序，但正在積極籌備有關領養孩子的事宜。
⁃ 目前正在辦理申請領養孩子的家庭（即其申請已穫批准及已展開申請程序的家庭）
⁃ 已獲批准領養孩子的申請而正在等候配對的家庭。
請注意，在本港領養孩子的申請過程一般是直接和清晰，這些資訊可以從負責本地領養的機構取得。因此，我們要求前來參加此活動的家庭不要視這次聚會為索取有關申請領養孩子的資詢活動，並與其他等候領養家庭一起將焦點放在有關領養孩子的準備及加深對成為領養家庭的認識。
在此聲明，我們不是領養孩子介紹所，因此，我們不會提供任何有關申請領養孩子手續的的資料和建議。

非AFHK會員／已過期會員：100元 (如即時入會／續會可免費參加此活動)
很感謝Holly Brown讓我們使用他們一樓餐廳作為是次活動的場地，亦免除最低消費之要求，但為維持他們業務操作成本，希望所有出席的參加者也能享用其餐廳售賣的食物或飲料。
