Small Group Discussions on Topics of Parents' Choice


You may have questions after our recent discussions on talking about the difficult parts of a child's history, and learning challenges for children with early trauma. This month you can bring your questions on these topics for discussion in a small group. Or there may be other questions you are wondering about, such as:

  • What's the best way for me to facilitate attachment with my newly adopted child?
  • What resources have others found helpful in adoption parenting?
  • What can I do about my child's intense emotions or rages?
  • How do I help my child who is encountering bullying at school?
  • Should I have my teen see a counselor for the problems s/he is facing? 
We will break into smaller discussion groups to meet the needs of our diverse families and allow for deeper discussion on specific issues that families are experiencing.  Parent mentors will be available to share their experiences. One small group will focus primarily on Attachment and Behavioral Issues, and another small group will be open for discussion on any adoption-related topics or questions you want to discuss.  So come with an issue you want to discuss or just a listening ear! 

This event is open for all parents and caregivers, waiting and prospective parents, and adult adoptees.  A limited number of professionals and students may be allowed to attend; please contact us by email if you are a professional or student who is interested in attending.

•This meeting is FREE FOR MEMBERS;
•100HKD for non-members or lapsed members (or see below to join/renew and attend this event for FREE). Payment required in advance
•DATE: Friday, November 14, 2014
•TIME: Arrive to check-in at 12:20. Meeting is from 12.30 to 2 pm. You are welcome to bring your own lunch and beverage.
•LOCATION: Central District Kai-Fong Welfare Association, 1/F, 1 Gough Street, Central. (More easily accessible from the Sheung Wan MTR - please allow enough time to walk from the station.).
