June Monthly Discussion - Ready, Set, Launch! Adoption and the College/Young Adult Years
The university and emerging young adult years are a time of change for individuals. They may stay at home and study, leave home to study, take a gap year, or pursue other career/life paths. Regardless of the arrangement, it is an emergence into young adulthood, and along with the normal developmental shifts, certain adoption and attachment-related issues can reemerge in a new way. Students with special needs may encounter additional transition issues that parents need to be aware of. Join Gretchen Ryan, an adoptive parent and social worker who will be sharing from her experiences of transitioning several adopted children into the young adult years, and Erica Liu Wollin, an adoptive parent and Clinical Psychologist with a specialty in university student mental health.
This event is open for all parents and caregivers, waiting and prospective parents, adult adoptees, professionals and students.
