Back to School: Handling Transitions, Teachers, and Tricky Assignments



For our children, heading back to school can bring with it some sticky situations.  Separation anxiety and worries (both theirs and ours!) can arise, and new teachers and classmates bring with them the issue of how much to disclose.  There are also those awkward questions our children may face and the tricky school assignments that we have to help them navigate!  Social worker and adoptive parent Gretchen Ryan will team with Psychologist and adoptive parent Erica Liu Wollin to guide discussion on how these issues play out in various school environments.  Come and share a tip about how you handled these experiences, ask a question, or just come to listen and learn.

This event is open for all adoptive and foster parents, waiting and prospective parents, and adult adoptees.  A limited number of professionals and students may be allowed to attend.  Please contact us by email if you are a professional or student who is interested in attending.
