THIS MONTH'S TOPIC:  FOOD ISSUES, with Shannon Hilliard

Three meals a day, three times a day (plus snacks in between) to parent through eating issues. Battles over food? Food hoarding?  Planning menus around picky eaters or trying to keep all things healthy for your little overeater?  Shannon Hilliard will join us to discuss these and other food issues in adopted children and how to handle them, to keep the dinner table a place of laughter and relationship instead of ultimatums and discipline.

Shannon has been a pediatric nurse for 25 years and currently works at HKIS.  Shannon married her college sweetheart, Brett, and after 6 years of marriage, and a few rounds of Clomid...they became parents through adoption. They have 2 children through domestic adoption, 17 and 15, and two through international adoption, 12 and 10.  They have the privilege of parenting a ton of DNA dynamics including cleft palate surgeries, ADHD diagnosis, occupational therapy for sensory issues, speech therapy, a spleenectomy, hematology and neurology clinics and multiple educational psychology appointments. She has lived in Hong Kong for 11 years.

Many thanks to those who joined last month's Parent Support Meeting. Our conversations have been fruitful, and the meetings continue to be a useful time for connecting with other adoptive parents and sharing our experiences.  If you have not yet joined us for a meeting, we welcome you to come and participate in our next discussion!
