Child Trafficking and International Adoption - A Discussion

The topic of child trafficking is probably very challenging for most parents to contemplate, but for adoptive parents of children with undocumented pasts, its implications are far more immediate and compelling.  There have been documented cases of child trafficking in domestic and international adoptions from China, Ethiopia, Haiti, Guatemala, Ukraine, Cambodia and Vietnam as well as many other countries. Even when the chances are remote that our adopted children were trafficked, the possibility poses challenges and raises difficult questions.

Join us for a conversation where we’ll examine the legal, emotional and ethical implications of child trafficking on adoptive parents and our adopted children with an eye toward answering the question: how do we best approach this issue, particularly when it comes to the unknown pasts of our children?
