One of the common concerns when raising children is whether they are developing language skills typically, and what are the best ways to facilitate their language development. For adopted children, their language development may be further affected by factors including the pre-adoption medical and developmental history, the amount of exposure to and experience with their birth language(s),as well as the need to learn a new language post-adoption. During this practical workshop, parents will learn about key stages of language development in toddlers and young children, as well as strategies to create a stress-free, language-enriching environment at home. Specifically, participants will get hands-on experience on using different toys to stimulate their children's language skills, while spending fun and quality bonding time with their child. Even flashcards can turn into an exciting game!

This will be an interactive presentation and we ask parents to bring along one tool (toy, book or flashcards) to work with during some of the demonstrations.
